چکیده

Injuries in trauma aaect anatomical structures and indirectly aaect physiological systems through mechanical behavior and physical proximity. This paper presents our methods and models for simulation cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology. We demonstrate our system that simulates normal, quiet breathing, and a tension pneumoth-orax. Our goal is to enable students of anatomy and physiology to explore, with the greatest degree of freedom possible , some of the causes and eeects of normal and pathological behaviors in trauma, in a 3D interactive, virtual environment. We propose to accomplish this by integrating visually-plausible, physics-based deformable anatomical models with mathematical models of physiological processes. In this pursuit, we are developing unique models and confronting issues in making anatomy in virtual environments both look and behave realistically.

Survival after In-Hospital Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in a Major Referral Center during 2001-2008

Despite efforts to save more people suffering from in-hospital cardiac arrest, rates of survival after in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are no better today than they were more than a decade ago. This study was undertaken to assess the demographics, clinical parameters and outcomes of patients undergoing CPR by the code blue team at our center during 2001 to 2008. Data were collec...

Traumatic Brain Injury Has Not Prominent Effects on Cardiopulmonary Indices of Rat after 24 Hours: Hemodynamic, Histopathology, and Biochemical Evidence

Background: Accidents are the second reason for mortality and morbidity in Iran. Among them, brain injuries are the most important damage. Clarification of the effects of brain injuries on different body systems will help physicians to prioritize their treatment strategies. In this study, the effect of pure brain trauma on the cardiovascular system and lungs 24 hours post trauma was assessed. M...

Withholding and termination of resuscitation of adult cardiopulmonary arrest secondary to trauma: resource document to the joint NAEMSP-ACSCOT position statements.

In the setting of traumatic cardiopulmonary arrest, protocols that direct emergency medical service (EMS) providers to withhold or terminate resuscitation, when clinically indicated, have the potential to decrease unnecessary use of warning lights and sirens and save valuable public health resources. Protocols to withhold resuscitation should be based on the determination that there are no obvi...
